Using a Solid State Drive in Your Desktop

Maybe you’ve considered using a solid state drive in your desktop after hearing about the speed and stability of them in laptops. And maybe that is a good idea. But, the technology isn’t quite there yet. Well, rather it’s here, but it’s still too expensive. 

For fun here in our Phoenix laptop repair shop we built a computer with a solid state drive. It had a 32gb C drive to boot off of, plus another 500gb+ normal drive in it. We wanted to see if it would run faster. And it would, however it wasn’t quite fast enough. It would boot about twice as fast into windows, and load up programs faster. But, it really looks like the interface is the slowing factor, it just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be sadly.

A Nice Environment

I recently just got a new job, and I must say that it is one of the greatest environments that I have ever had the pleasure to work in.  It’s a small printing company but they have a huge emphasis on people getting along well together and actually being friends, not just coworkers.  Our boss says that the best work environment is one that feels like a family.  This definitely isn’t for everyone though.  My brother would hate this job.  He’s never liked get to know you games or anything like that, so he would have left after the first day.  I love it.

The Online Guitar Forums Are Informative

Everyday I spend some time on the Internet.   Either it is reading the news or doing my banking.   Having access has simplified my life and in many ways made it more fulfilling.   Every evening after my work is done I enjoy joining in the guitar forums and finding out what has been happening in the guitar world.  One of the things that I have been following with great interest is a discussion of great or famous guitarists.  It is interesting to see who others consider great and then to find out why.  Occasionally I will buy an album based upon the discussions to see what they sound like.
