How to Write in Japanese

Learning to speak Japanese was difficult for sure, but learning to write it seemed almost impossible. Not only were there no Latin cognates for me to cozy up to, there were no identifiable letters or even numbers. I left America and arrived in rural Japan armed with “How are You?” and “My name is Kristi”. I could not read a train station sign or even find the exit in a burning building if I needed to. However, throughout the course of the next year, free Rocket Japanese immersed in Japanese conversation, life and schooling, I slowly learned how to speak and ultimately read Japanese. About Katakana symbol: Finally, Katakana symbol is often used to represent foreign words, or names which have adopted into the Japanese writing system.
