My best friend is a really nice guy. He is smart and caring and can be the life of the party. But he doesn’t do well with women. They consider him more of a brother than a possible romantic interest. When he finally got up enough nerve to ask me to help him figure out what was wrong, I knew I had to be brutally honest. “You need to lose beer gut, for starters,” I told him. “You need to try to present yourself in the most positive light possible, and that big belly just doesn’t do it.” Telling your best friend the truth can be painful, but what are best friends for?
